Story of Shahrukh Khan | From Freelancer to Entrepreneur

I’m Shahrukh Khan, a Software Engineer from Kohat, KPK. Here is my story of success that may inspire others and bring about a positive change in the professional world. It covers the journey of an unenlightened student becoming a Successful Freelancer & Entrepreneur.

The Freelancing Career:

I still remember that day when one of my friends, who was very weak in studies but he used to research online earnings a lot. One day, he told me about Fiverr & Upwork that these are the online platforms where you can execute your skills and earn good money. Truth be told, I didn’t believe him that time and I ignored his piece of advice. Sadly, with the passage of time, there were lots of responsibilities on me such as University Fees, daily expenses, and helping my father as I’m his eldest son.

All that time, I always used to think about my responsibilities and how can I help my father?

One day, I asked the same friend to tell me again about those platforms so I can confirm whether it’s true or not?. Before starting freelancing, I wanted to clarify whether we can withdraw the income to our bank account?

Once I got my answers, I started to learn graphic designing, app development, website designing from YouTube. And there was no one who can guide me on what skill is good for freelancing etc.

I kept learning skills. I remember that I joined Fiverr on 12th April 2016. I was waiting for orders and struggling to build my portfolio as well as one has to showcase something to their clients in case a client responds.

On the 8th day of Ramadan in 2016, I got the first order of $10 from USA based client, and he was very happy with the work quality. After his 1st order, he was so happy that he ordered another task. This 2nd order was about $100.

This was the beginning of my freelance journey. I kept progressing forward and growing my Fiverr & Upwork account. Today, I have completed over 100 orders on Fiverr. Unfortunately, I lost my 1st Fiverr account because of my ID card and a mistake I made with my order. This was heartbreaking but I did not lose hope. I created a new profile on Fiverr and got two orders on the very first day. The price was worth $350 USD. Today, all my hard work has paid off. I am a level 2 seller.

Freelancing to Entrepreneurship

I met one of my university friends, he is a 2nd level experienced freelancer. Insha’Allah, he will become top-rated very soon. We both decided to start a software house in our city “Kohat” and the initial concept and ideology were to guide the beginners and youngsters based in Kohat in IT Industry and to teach them what is freelancing.

We started our startup as a design agency that provides services related to mobile apps & website design and development solutions. We had taught around 100+ students between Nov 2019 – Dec 2020. We also decided to teach online on YouTube and Facebook pages. Today, there are a lot of students who are earning from freelancing platforms and making their 5 to 6 figures monthly. We also invite all those beginners who want to learn a digital skill in a proper way.
