I was shy, low confident, and whatnot, but I made it with freelancing and then with my blogging journey. Sounds interesting? Let’s make it short and informative.
My story is different (till today) and it can be a story of every boy or girl who dreams to be “different than the crowd”.
My Background:
As a young boy, I did not like school, my relatives, and friends from the neighborhood. I would not call myself an introvert but truth be told, I felt better off by just being myself and not go to gatherings.
I was always out of my home just to explore something in nature and used to catch butterflies all day (after school). My personality was different. Everyone in my family thought that I will do something different and a lot better than my cousins and classmates. Generally, every parent expects this from their child.
Long story short: after a lot of tries to quit my school studies, I passed matriculation and enrolled in a college for ICS. I dropped out during the 2nd semester.
Opening Mobile Shop:
I borrowed Rupees 35,000 from my father and opened a mobile shop. Back then, the internet was a new thing. We are talking about the year 2013 and smartphone penetration in the country was on a rise.
Although the shop was doing “just okay”, I developed an interest in blogging. I did not know anything about blogs and also was unaware of the fact that you can make money from your website. I tried many things such as PTC, self-clicking on Ads, tricks, and spamming. As a curious Youngman, desperate to make money, I tried my hands on things I regret doing today. In 2014, my shop was not doing good at all. Parents lost hope and trust in me.
The blogging just did not take off. I used to get average views of about 100 to 200 a day but that is about it. The traffic I needed to grow my blog was not there. No matter how hard I tried, what good or bad practices I followed, I did not succeed.
Trying Luck at Freelance work:
At this point, amid lack of earnings, I decided to quit blogging and started article writing Gigs. I closed my shop (I could hardly get to break even). There was no point in hanging to that passion. Honestly speaking, the fire I had inside me about internet business was nowhere to be seen for my brick and motor mobile shop. I am glad that phase is over.
I began to offer my article writing services from home. God has better plans for us. He did have one for me too and I am thankful for that. I was beginning to make good money and my family was happy for me for the very first time in years. I was making more money than all my cousins.
I had doubts about freelancing. It just felt like not a long-term drive. I have no logical reason to back my statement but I had this fear in the back of my mind to have a better, more sustainable source of income in a long run.
Coming back to Blogging:
I started working again on my blog which was left dormant for almost a year. I expanded my services to owing more than one blog and the experiment paid off.
Today, I am earning more than a six-figure income. I have founded my startup “Search Oye”. I’ve been added to the top 10 bloggers list by many independent bloggers from Pakistan.
Financially, YES — I am a millionaire now and proud of my whole family. I still work from home and blog. I also offer writing jobs occasionally for my new blogs.
Conclusion:
Life demands struggle. No one has been to succeed in life without making contact efforts. Yes, being persistent is the key but most importantly, keep all options open. When I say options, I refer to the most important option of life as far as I am concerned. An option for “learning new skills”.
A degree is important, no one denies that. But it is the skills that will help you service a tough, nasty and competitive world. You’ve got to quip yourself with skills that can make you regular money. Automated business should be your ultimate goal. An automated business means, you do not have to sit on your desk 24/7. If you get your work on autopilot, you will make money even if you sleep. For me, blogging was that freedom I kept searching for all my life.
