In 2015, I joined the government sector as a BPS-16 employee. For many people, it’s considered a stable and respectable job, and honestly, I was grateful for it too. But deep inside, I always felt something was missing.
Even while sitting on my office chair, I used to think to myself:
“I can do something better. I’m made for something bigger than this routine.”
That feeling stayed with me for years.
A Small Step That Changed Everything
Towards the end of 2019, I finally decided to take action. I joined a local institute in Sargodha called Logix College, where I started learning Graphic Design.
At that time, I didn’t know where this skill would take me — but I knew one thing:
If I don’t start now, I may regret it forever.
After learning the basics, I started my freelancing journey on Fiverr in 2020.
The Reality of Fiverr Struggles
Freelancing looks shiny from the outside, but the truth is:
The beginning is tough.
It took me around 2–3 months just to get my first few orders — and most of them were only $5 gigs.
In a full year (2020), I hardly managed to earn around $800–$1000.
In 2021, it stayed almost the same.
At that stage, many people would quit.
But I didn’t.
Because I believed I was building something — even if it was slow.
A Turning Point: Learning Digital Marketing
In 2021, I started listening to Sir Hisham Sarwar and learned Digital Marketing from his YouTube channel.
That’s where everything started changing for me.
I realized something very important:
“Skill is powerful, but marketing is what brings clients.”
So instead of relying only on Fiverr, I started promoting my graphic design services on social media platforms, built trust, improved my communication, and began running promotions and ads.
And for the first time, I started seeing results.
The Breakthrough
Once I combined design skills + marketing, my freelancing income completely transformed.
From earning only a few hundred dollars per year, I started earning $100,000+ per year through freelancing and online services.
It wasn’t magic.
It was learning, improving, failing, trying again, and being consistent.
The Hardest Phase of My Life
There was a time when I was doing my government job and freelancing at the same time.
That phase was extremely difficult.
Managing deadlines, clients, office responsibilities, and personal life — it felt like my days had no end. Rest became a luxury.
But my passion didn’t become weak.
My intention didn’t change.
Even when I was tired, I stayed focused and kept working because I had a clear goal:
“One day, I will leave this job and build my own future.”
Finally — The Big Decision
In August 2022, I finally resigned from my government job.
Not because I hated my job — but because I proved to myself that I could survive, grow, and succeed independently.
That resignation wasn’t just leaving a job…
- It was choosing freedom.
- It was choosing growth.
- It was choosing my dream.
My Message to Every Dreamer
The truth is:
Achieving a dream is not easy.
There are nights when you feel like quitting.
There are times when people doubt you.
There are moments when nothing works.
But I’ve learned one thing:
A man can achieve anything if he stays dedicated, regular, and disciplined.
Freelancing didn’t just change my career…
It changed my life.
And if I can do it — coming from Sargodha, starting with $5 orders, earning only $800–$1000 a year at first — then I strongly believe others can do it too.
You just need to start, but most importantly, never giveup!
